On January 7th, Beijing time, Bloomberg reported that Jensen Huang, the CEO of NVIDIA, expressed his lack of concern regarding the proposed 'Billionaire Tax' under consideration in California. During an interview with Bloomberg TV, Huang mentioned that he has made Silicon Valley his home and is fully prepared to accept any taxes that may be levied. According to California's referendum proposal, affluent individuals who meet the specified asset threshold will be subject to a one-time 5% wealth tax. The revenue generated from this tax will be earmarked for healthcare, food assistance programs, and educational initiatives. Currently, the proposal is still in the signature-gathering phase. If approved, it will be presented to voters in November 2026 and will apply to individuals residing in California as of January 1st of that year. Jensen Huang's current net worth stands at approximately $155.8 billion, potentially subjecting him to over $7 billion in taxes. Despite the fact that some affluent individuals have chosen to relocate from California in anticipation, Huang unequivocally stated his intention to remain in the area. He emphasized that NVIDIA's primary reason for selecting Silicon Valley as its base is the region's highly concentrated pool of talented professionals.
