On the 23rd, the U.S. government made an announcement stating that while it plans to impose tariffs on Chinese chips in 2027, it has put an end to the previous administration's (here referring to the latter part of Biden's term or the transition context, to avoid confusion we just say 'prior') trade investigation into Chinese chips. According to analysis by U.S. media, despite the U.S. government's assertion that China's practices in the chip sector "undermine U.S. interests," it will refrain from imposing additional tariffs on Chinese chips for a minimum of 18 months. Bloomberg views the suspension of new tariffs as the U.S.'s latest effort to solidify the Sino-U.S. "truce" pact and foster stability in bilateral relations.
