Today, during the investor relations activity record session, Loongson Technology revealed its GPGPU (General-Purpose Graphics Processing Unit) development blueprint and the most recent advancements. The company's inaugural GPGPU chip, the 9A1000, has been sent for tape-out (the final phase of chip design before mass production). It is anticipated to make its official debut in 2025, signifying a pivotal transition for domestic GPUs from merely graphics rendering to encompassing general-purpose computing capabilities. Moreover, Loongson Technology has mapped out subsequent product iterations, namely the 9A2000 and 9A3000. The 9A2000 is projected to offer an 8-10 fold performance enhancement, setting its sights on competing with the NVIDIA RTX 2080, and thereby further bridging the gap in the mid-tier general-purpose computing market.
