On December 14, 2025, news emerged indicating that Samsung Electronics' DS Foundry unit is currently in the midst of collaboration discussions with AMD. These talks center around the 2nm process (SF2), with the aim of assessing the viability of integrating this advanced process into AMD's next - generation processor lineup.

Both parties are set to commence trial production of AMD chips in the near term, leveraging the Multi - Project Wafer (MPW) technology. The discussions are likely to hone in on the EPYC Venice server CPU, which is specifically designed for the data center market.

Should this cooperation materialize, Samsung is anticipated to formally confirm its collaboration intentions around January 2026. This move would mark a significant expansion of Samsung's customer base for the 2nm process.

It's worth noting that Samsung had previously announced its roadmap, stating that it would commence mass production of the 2nm process in 2025 and the 1.4nm process in 2027. Additionally, the company is committed to continuously broadening the application scope of its specialty processes.
