Two individuals with direct knowledge of the situation disclosed that Intel conducted tests on chipmaking tools manufactured this year by a prominent equipment vendor with extensive operations in the Chinese market, along with two of its overseas subsidiaries, all of which are subject to U.S. sanctions. Earlier in August of the same year, Intel's CEO found himself under immense pressure from the Trump administration to step down, amidst allegations of ties with China. The tools in question for Intel's recent tests were sourced from ACM Research, a leading chip manufacturing equipment provider headquartered in Fremont, California, United States.
