Following the release of the AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D processor, which swiftly claimed the title of the top gaming CPU, the performance metrics of its successor, the Ryzen 7 9850X3D, have now come to light. Netizen @Olrak29_ has shared these pertinent benchmarks in the GeekBench database.
During testing with Colorful and Maxsun motherboards, the processor exhibited varying frequencies. The Colorful motherboard enabled it to reach 5.6GHz, while the Maxsun motherboard achieved 5.38GHz—200MHz lower than what rumors had initially indicated.
At 5.6GHz, the processor scored 3439 in single-core performance and 17530 in multi-core performance. When operating at 5.38GHz, it registered a single-core score of 3260 and a multi-core score of 16149. The comparatively modest scores might stem from BIOS-related issues or the memory frequency being set at 4800MHz, as the processor is ideally paired with memory of at least 5600MHz.
The Ryzen 7 9850X3D boasts a base frequency of 4.7GHz and a boost frequency of 5.6GHz, marking a 400MHz increase over the Ryzen 7 9800X3D. It is poised to become the new frontrunner in the realm of gaming CPUs. Moreover, AMD might also introduce a more premium option, the Ryzen 9 9950X3D2, concurrently. This processor is expected to feature dual CCD 3D V-Cache, operate at frequencies of 5.6GHz/4.3GHz, and have a TDP of 200W.
These processors are anticipated to be officially announced at the CES exhibition in early January next year.
