The Chinese market witnesses an annual consumption of hard disk drives (HDDs) valued at nearly 60 billion yuan. Nevertheless, the absence of core technologies and limited production capacity have rendered China's storage industry susceptible to global supply chain volatilities. In a recent exclusive interview, Zhou Yuefeng, Senior Vice President of Huawei, CEO of Huawei Cloud, and President of the Data Storage Product Line, characterized the current state of the domestic storage industry as being 'beset by challenges from both foreign and domestic fronts': international behemoths erect technological barriers, while internal price wars exact their toll. Despite these hurdles, Zhou Yuefeng remains optimistic about the future prospects of China's storage industry.
