On November 28, international media reported that the global scarcity of memory chips has escalated, primarily driven by a sharp uptick in demand for artificial intelligence infrastructure development. This week, multiple U.S. consumer electronics producers have issued warnings about impending price hikes. During a conference call on Tuesday, the Chief Operating Officer of Dell in the United States remarked that they had never witnessed such a rapid escalation in costs. Given the current shortage of certain memory chips, the company might implement price increases for some of its devices. Similarly, the Chief Executive Officer of HP in the United States noted that due to the looming depletion of chip inventories, the company's profit margins are projected to be compressed by the second half of 2026, necessitating potential product price increases if required. Research institutions anticipate that, owing to the ongoing chip shortage, memory chip prices will surge by roughly 50% from their current levels by the second quarter of 2026.
