According to the most recent report from Counterpoint Research, Samsung is gearing up to ramp up its monthly production capacity for 2nm - process chips. By the end of 2026, the company aims to reach a capacity of 21,000 wafers per month. This marks a staggering 163% surge compared to the production level in 2025. To realize this ambitious objective, Samsung is channeling its resources into two main areas. Firstly, it is focusing on enhancing yield rates. In the semiconductor manufacturing realm, yield rate refers to the proportion of functional chips produced from a given number of wafers. A higher yield rate means more usable chips and, consequently, greater efficiency and cost - effectiveness. Secondly, Samsung is intensifying its research and development efforts on process control systems. These systems play a crucial role in ensuring the precision and consistency of the chip - making process. By strengthening R&D in this area, Samsung can better manage the complex manufacturing steps involved in producing 2nm chips, thereby improving overall quality and production stability.
