On November 12, the State Administration for Market Regulation, in collaboration with the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, jointly announced the inaugural batch of 'Top Ten Metrology Key Projects'. These initiatives are designed to bolster the emergence of new, high-quality productive forces within various industries. By harnessing the nation's premier metrological resources, the projects aim to surmount the technical obstacles of "measurement impossibility, measurement incompleteness, and measurement inaccuracy" prevalent in pivotal sectors. These sectors include next-generation information technology, artificial intelligence, aerospace, new energy, novel materials, high-end equipment, biopharmaceuticals, quantum technology, integrated circuits, and instrumentation.

Among the highlighted projects, the capacity-building endeavor for measurement and metrological standardization of critical structural dimensions in semiconductor chip packaging circuits within the integrated circuit domain is set to propel the precise progression of the 'Chinese Chip'. The project aimed at enhancing and applying the capability for absolute gravimetric measurement and testing of cold atoms under dynamic conditions in the quantum technology sphere is committed to the commercialization of quantum sector achievements. The construction initiative for a data-driven intelligent perception metrological testing platform in the artificial intelligence realm presents a fresh visage of metrology in the digital era. Meanwhile, the 400G/800G optical communication metrology technology project in the next-generation information technology field offers precise communication backing for the 5G/6G and artificial intelligence industries. These projects are anticipated to yield a suite of advanced metrological accomplishments that underpin the growth of new, high-quality productive forces.
