On the evening of November 11, Huawei held its 6th Innovation and Intellectual Property Forum and unveiled the outcomes of its 6th "Top Ten Inventions" selection. Song Liuping, Huawei's Chief Legal Officer, revealed that over the past five years, the company has consistently earmarked over 20% of its annual sales revenue for research and development (R&D) each year. In 2024, Huawei's R&D investment surpassed 170 billion yuan, representing 20.8% of its annual sales revenue. Over the past decade, its cumulative R&D expenditure has exceeded 1.2 trillion yuan. Furthermore, in 2024, Huawei's revenue from patent licensing stood at approximately US$630 million, while the cumulative patent licensing fees it has paid out historically are roughly three times the cumulative licensing revenue it has received.
