On October 31, Onsemiconductor made a significant announcement, revealing the launch of its vertical gallium nitride (vGaN) power semiconductors. These innovative products are built using GaN-on-GaN technology, a cutting-edge approach that enables electric current to flow vertically through the chip. This vertical current flow brings about a substantial reduction in both energy loss and heat generation, with losses being slashed by nearly half (50%). At present, Onsemiconductor has already started supplying samples of 700V and 1200V devices to its early customers, marking a crucial step in the commercialization of this advanced technology.
