For the first time ever, the combined market capitalization of South Korea's two semiconductor behemoths, Samsung Electronics and SK Hynix, has soared past the 1,000 trillion won mark, totaling a staggering 1,019.535 trillion won (roughly equivalent to RMB 5.05 trillion). This remarkable feat can be traced back to the outstanding financial results both companies posted in the third quarter of 2025. During this period, Samsung Electronics recorded revenues of 86 trillion won and an operating profit of 12.1 trillion won. The driving force behind this growth was predominantly its memory chip division. Meanwhile, SK Hynix posted revenues of 24.67 trillion won and an operating profit of 11.34 trillion won in the same quarter, marking a new high for its quarterly profits. This surge was largely propelled by the soaring demand for memory chips, a trend spurred by the global artificial intelligence craze.
