The semiconductor crisis, which initially wreaked havoc in Europe, is now making its presence felt across Asia, disrupting the intricate web of global automotive production. Leading automakers, including Toyota, Nissan, and Honda, have been issued warnings regarding the scarcity of chip supplies. In response, member companies of the Japan Automobile Manufacturers Association are joining forces with parts manufacturers to devise effective solutions. Volkswagen, for instance, has been compelled to halt production of its iconic Golf model at its Wolfsburg plant, owing to disruptions in the supply of specific chips. Meanwhile, other automakers like BMW and Mercedes-Benz are keeping a close eye on the evolving situation, with their production lines still running, albeit under heightened scrutiny.
