JEDEC has made an official announcement, stating that the development of the JESD328 standard specification is on the verge of completion. Moreover, a brand-new memory form factor, SOCAMM2 (Small Outline Compressed Add-on Memory Module), is set to be introduced. This new form factor is specifically designed to cater to the needs of next-generation AI and data center platforms. The standard meticulously defines a low-profile memory solution that is not only replaceable but also upgradable. It is built upon the foundations of LPDDR5 and LPDDR5X technologies. In terms of performance, this memory standard offers significantly higher bandwidth, consumes less power, and demonstrates superior scalability compared to its predecessors.
