Based on the most recent industry reports, TSMC is ramping up its efforts to step into the Ångström process era. The company is set to kick off mass production of its 2-nanometer process in the latter half of 2025. Additionally, it has plans to introduce the A16 (1.6-nanometer) process in 2026, and the A14 (1.4-nanometer) process is anticipated to commence mass production in 2028.

Kaohsiung is poised to emerge as a pivotal center for 2-nanometer production. All five of its wafer fabrication plants will be solely dedicated to producing the 2-nanometer family of chips. Moreover, an evaluation is currently in progress to identify a suitable location for a sixth fab site, which will be earmarked for the introduction of the A14 process.

Meanwhile, TSMC's Arizona plant in the United States is also expediting its development plans. Mass production of the 2-nanometer process is projected to begin in the second half of 2026. Looking ahead, the plant has outlined future plans to incorporate the A16 process into its production lineup.
