On September 30 (local time), SEMI Europe, in collaboration with more than 75 semiconductor and microelectronics companies, research and technology institutions, as well as industry associations, formally endorsed the 'Declaration of the Semiconductor Alliance.' This declaration, signed by all 27 EU member states, advocates for a comprehensive revision of the EU Chips Act, with the aim of solidifying Europe's stance in the fiercely competitive global semiconductor arena.

The declaration underscores the necessity for cross-sectoral synergy, actively involving small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and startups. This collaborative approach is designed to guarantee the industrial application of research and development (R&D) outcomes. Additionally, it calls for the expansion of policy tools to bolster industry deployment.

SEMI Europe has expressed its enthusiastic support for the initiative aimed at enhancing the European Chips Framework. The organization firmly believes that this move will pave the way for the European semiconductor industry to realize its ambitious goals.

At present, the EU is actively advancing the Chips Act 2.0. This updated legislation seeks to streamline regulations and provide incentives for innovation. Its primary objective is to address Europe's deficiencies in the logic semiconductor sector and, consequently, elevate its global competitiveness on the international stage.
