Data released on Wednesday revealed that Samsung Electronics saw its share of the global high - bandwidth memory (HBM) chip market decline to third place in the second quarter of 2025. Meanwhile, U.S.-based Micron Technology surged ahead to claim the second - place spot. Based on data from industry tracker Counterpoint Research, in the second quarter, Samsung Electronics held a 17% share of the global HBM chip market. This put it behind Micron, which secured a 21% share. On the other hand, SK Hynix maintained its leading position, topping the market with a substantial 62% share.
