On September 15, the Italian Ministry of Enterprise and 'Made in Italy' released a statement, declaring that STMicroelectronics has dropped its layoff plan for the Agrate factory. The ministry remarked, "We are delighted with STMicroelectronics' choice to forgo layoffs and put forward an industrial revitalization plan for the factory." Throughout the discussions, both sides also delved into the specifics of a €5 billion investment. Out of this total, the Italian government will allocate €2 billion to the Catania factory, aiming to foster its growth into a pivotal strategic center for microelectronics in Europe.
