Sources indicate that NVIDIA has halted the development of its first - generation System - on - Chip Advanced Memory Module (SOCAMM) and is now channeling its efforts into the second - generation SOCAMM2 standard. As reported by ET News, SOCAMM2 is set to undergo a thorough overhaul. It will support faster memory speeds and bring about a substantial boost in bandwidth and overall performance.
SOCAMM2 is anticipated to maintain the use of 649 external motherboard I/O ports. The memory will be upgraded to 9600MT/s LPDDR5X, which marks a significant improvement compared to the initial 8533MT/s. Additionally, there's a possibility that it will support LPDDR6 and source memory from multiple suppliers. This move aligns with the industry's constant pursuit of better performance and more flexible supply chains.
