On September 11, 2025, SK Hynix made a significant announcement: it has officially commenced the supply of its ZUFS 4.1, the world's first mass-produced mobile NAND flash memory solution, to customers.

This innovative product is developed in accordance with the UFS4.1 specifications issued by JEDEC. When integrated into smartphones, it brings about remarkable improvements. It substantially boosts the operating system's speed and elevates data management efficiency. One of the long-standing issues, namely the degradation of read performance over extended usage periods, can see an improvement of over fourfold.

In terms of application performance, the runtime of applications is reduced by 45% when compared to traditional UFS. And for AI applications specifically, the runtime is shortened by 47%. Moreover, this product showcases a significant enhancement in error handling capabilities compared to its 4.0 predecessor. This is expected to lead to substantial improvements in system reliability and recovery.
