South Korean battery manufacturer SK On has inked an agreement with Flatiron Energy Development in the United States. Pursuant to this agreement, SK On will supply Flatiron Energy with up to 7.2 gigawatt-hours (GWh) of lithium iron phosphate batteries for use in energy storage systems from 2026 to 2030. The financial terms of the deal remain undisclosed. To fulfill the supply requirements, SK On intends to repurpose a portion of its electric vehicle battery production line at its Georgia facility in the US, transforming it into a dedicated energy storage system production line. Battery deliveries are anticipated to commence in the second half of 2026.
