On September 2, the Government of Quebec, Canada, announced the withdrawal of its financial support for Northvolt Batteries North America, a subsidiary of the battery manufacturer Northvolt. This decision was rooted in the company's inability to present a plan that aligned with Quebec's interests. The Quebec government had invested a total of $510 million in the project, of which $270 million has been recognized as losses, in addition to a $240 million guaranteed loan originally earmarked for land acquisition.
