Microsoft has unveiled a public beta of the 'VM Conversion Tool', designed to facilitate the smooth transition of VMware virtual machines to the Hyper-V environment within Windows Server. This robust tool allows for the simultaneous migration of up to 10 virtual machines, ensuring compatibility with both BIOS and UEFI systems. During the migration, it intelligently maps each VM to the corresponding Hyper-V generation, preserving crucial boot configurations. Leveraging advanced changed block tracking technology, the process aims to maintain system uptime and minimize disruptions. Furthermore, the tool seamlessly supports multi-disk configurations, accommodates both Windows and Linux virtual machines, and eliminates the need for additional agent installations.
