On July 26, 2025, the China Meteorological Administration (CMA) introduced its nationwide early warning plan, titled "Mazu (MAZU)", at the World Artificial Intelligence Conference in Shanghai. The initiative aims to create a comprehensive global early warning service network encompassing various disaster types and to share China's extensive experience and technological advancements in the early warning sector. At its core, "Mazu (MAZU)" revolves around a cloud-based early warning system, offering customizable, rapidly deployable, and sustainable technical solutions tailored to the specific needs of different countries. The acronym MAZU stands for Multi-hazard, Alert, Zero-gap, and Universal, reflecting the plan's fundamental principles. Through this initiative, the CMA aims to collaborate with countries worldwide to address climate challenges and bolster global early warning capabilities.
