Amazon CEO Andy Jassy remarked that as generative AI emerges as the linchpin of the company's operations, there may be a diminished need for human labor in tasks amenable to computerized processing in the foreseeable future. However, he emphasized that this transformation will also usher in new job roles. Amazon has already poured significant resources into AI to streamline office and warehouse functions. Historically, the company has resorted to periodic layoffs to streamline its workforce, resulting in over 27,000 job cuts since the start of 2022. Concurrently, Amazon has witnessed remarkable advancements in warehouse robotics, marked by a proliferation of robots. Notably, despite these technological advancements, the global workforce at Amazon has expanded rather than contracted, underscoring that robotics technology has fostered the creation of novel job opportunities.
