Alison Kirkby, Chief Executive Officer of BT Group, has stated that advancements in artificial intelligence are anticipated to intensify the company's job reduction initiatives. By the end of the century, BT aims to slash over 40,000 positions and reduce costs by £3 billion. Furthermore, the integration of AI technology may lead to an even greater downsizing, building upon the previously announced plan to lay off 55,000 employees by 2030. Kirkby also discussed the potential spin-off of the Openreach business, though she clarified that this option is not currently under active consideration. Last month's financial report revealed that robust demand for fiber broadband fueled year-over-year revenue growth, with Openreach's strong performance mitigating the impact of revenue declines in other divisions.
