During an analyst conference call on May 29, NVIDIA's CEO, Jen-Hsun Huang, emphasized that China's AI market, valued at $50 billion, is effectively inaccessible to the US industry. Highlighting China's significance as one of the world's largest AI markets, Huang stressed its pivotal role in achieving global success. With half of the world's AI researchers based in China, dominating the Chinese market translates into a global advantage. The current US policy, which presumes that China is unable to manufacture its own AI chips, has been challenged by Huang, who believes this assumption has always been flawed and is now undeniably incorrect. Huang suggests that the critical question is not whether China will develop AI, but rather whether one of the world's largest AI markets will operate on a US platform.
