The AI startup Builder.ai has officially commenced bankruptcy proceedings, leaving behind debts of $85 million to Amazon and $30 million to Microsoft. Once heralded as a "quasi-unicorn" in the AI sector, Builder.ai raised $250 million in Series D funding in 2023, valuing the company at nearly $1 billion. The company had boasted of leveraging AI technology to facilitate rapid no-code application development. However, it was later revealed that the company heavily relied on manual operations and faced allegations of exploiting the working hours of outsourced developers, particularly Indian programmers.
