On May 22, OpenAI announced the acquisition of IO, a startup founded by former Apple Chief Design Officer Jonathan Ive, for a staggering $6.5 billion. As a result of this acquisition, IO's 55 employees will seamlessly integrate into OpenAI's team. Notably, Ive will not assume a full-time role at OpenAI but will instead contribute as an advisor.
