Meta has announced that downloads of its "open-source" AI model series, Llama, surpassed the 1 billion mark by mid-March, marking a substantial jump from the 650 million downloads recorded in early December 2024. During the inaugural LlamaCon developer conference, held shortly thereafter, Meta disclosed that the model's download count had climbed even further, reaching an impressive 1.2 billion downloads.
