CNBC reports that OpenAI was in negotiations to acquire Anysphere, the innovator behind the AI programming tool Cursor, but later redirected its efforts to engage with competitor Windsurf. Anysphere, founded by four Stanford graduates, is currently engaged in discussions with investors to secure funding at a valuation nearing $10 billion.
