Following her departure from OpenAI, Mira Murati, the esteemed former Chief Technology Officer, embarked on a new venture named Thinking Machines Lab. The lab's primary focus is the research and development of large-scale AI models. Her initial team of nearly 30 individuals boasts over 20 former OpenAI colleagues, with co-founder John Schulman assuming the role of Chief Scientist. Notably, Bob McGrew, a former Chief Research Officer at OpenAI, and Alec Radford, an experienced researcher, have recently joined the team as advisors. Both McGrew and Radford bring years of expertise and significant contributions to key projects from their time at OpenAI. Thinking Machines Lab is dedicated to creating AI systems that are not only more powerful but also more understandable and customizable.
