According to the recently published 2025 AI Index Report by the Stanford Artificial Intelligence Laboratory, the gap in performance between leading AI models in China and the United States has drastically diminished, now standing at just 0.3%. In the 2024 global ranking of significant large-scale AI models, 40 models hailed from the US, whereas 15 originated from China. Notably, Google and OpenAI shared the top spot with seven models each, while Alibaba placed third with six models. Furthermore, Alibaba's Qwen2, Qwen2.5, and DeepSeek-V3 were also recognized as pivotal releases within the AI sphere in 2024.
