On April 10, Guangdong province unveiled an ambitious plan for integrating AI education into primary and secondary schools, specifying the minimum class hour requirements: grades 1-4 in primary school will receive no less than 6 class hours per school year, grades 5-6 will have at least 10 class hours, grades 7-8 in junior high school will receive 1 class hour every two weeks, and high school students will see increased class hours tailored to relevant courses. The plan encompasses two competency frameworks: the "Framework for AI Literacy of Primary and Secondary School Teachers in Guangdong Province (Trial)" and the "Framework for AI Literacy of Primary and Secondary School Students in Guangdong Province (Trial)", alongside a comprehensive curriculum outline titled "Guidelines for AI Curriculum in Guangdong Province's Primary and Secondary Schools (Trial)". Additionally, Guangdong is developing a guide aimed at fostering the integrated use of AI tools and the national platform to further enhance AI education in these schools.
