Reuters reports that officials within the Trump administration have notified certain US government employees that the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), headed by Elon Musk, is employing artificial intelligence to scrutinize communications within at least one federal agency. The aim is to detect any derogatory remarks directed towards President Trump and his policies. This development has sparked widespread concerns regarding privacy and freedom of speech. Furthermore, the DOGE team has integrated Musk's Grok AI chatbot into its strategy to reduce federal government expenditures. The team's use of the Signal application for communications could potentially breach federal record-keeping regulations. As of this writing, neither the White House, Elon Musk, nor DOGE have issued any comments on the matter.
