OpenAI has announced the successful completion of a $40 billion financing round, propelling its valuation to an astonishing $300 billion. Leading the investment is SoftBank, which contributed $7.5 billion, with Microsoft, Coatue Management, and other notable investors also participating. The funding will be distributed in two phases, with the initial portion disbursed immediately and the remaining $30 billion scheduled for release by the end of the year. This release is contingent upon OpenAI's successful transition to a for-profit entity. Should the transition fail, SoftBank retains the option to reduce its investment to $20 billion.
