WeChat has launched a special campaign titled "Qinglang: Cracking Down on Fake Persona Chaos in Short Videos." The initiative strengthens account qualification verification and content review, standardizes labeling management for content such as fictional performances and AI-generated synthetic material, and intensifies patrols and enforcement against fake persona-related content. Violating content and accounts are handled in accordance with regulations and the specific circumstances. Accounts and related institutions that mass-produce fake personas and engage in malicious marketing for profit are dealt with strictly, and those suspected of illegal activities are reported to relevant authorities in accordance with the law. Since the campaign began, a total of 26,117 pieces of violating content have been removed, and 1,531 violating accounts have been penalized.
