Yang Tianzhen, founder of Easy Entertainment, has teamed up with Jiang Shanshan, former head of frontier technology investment at Alibaba, to launch venture capital firm Heli Capital, which will focus on frontier technology sectors such as AI, embodied intelligence, nuclear fusion, and brain-computer interfaces. The two have established a clear division of labor: Jiang will lead investments, while Yang will oversee investor relations, content, and brand building. Jiang previously served as Managing Director of Alibaba's Strategic Investment Department, where over the past three years she led investments in more than ten frontier technology projects totaling over 10 billion yuan. She left in August this year to prepare her own fund. The partnership took shape when Jiang sought Yang's advice on brand building for her new fund, and the two ultimately decided to embark on the venture together. Yang will draw on her experience to provide brand communications support for the fund and its portfolio companies, and the pair also plan to produce a technology podcast for general audiences, modeled after the operating approach of Silicon Valley VC firm a16z. Jiang stated that investment capability is the core foundation, and content can amplify its value. In terms of investment strategy, she favors concentrated bets on select companies, believing that consumer-facing AI applications may in the future be dominated by big tech or model companies, while more independent entrepreneurial opportunities exist in complex areas such as enterprise-level AI Agent infrastructure.
