Clues about OpenAI's next-generation model are emerging thick and fast. The head of Codex dropped a cryptic hint, fueling speculation about GPT-6.2 Astra; two mysterious model IDs, believed to be candidate release versions, briefly appeared in OpenAI's official API list before being swiftly taken down. Their dual virtual machine architecture suggests the new model natively supports complex long-chain Agent tasks, pointing to the leaked GPT-6.2 Astra and an ultra-large parent model code-named "Betelgeuse," with a parameter scale of 10 trillion to 12 trillion. Leaked test results for GPT-6.2 Astra show impressive performance in video generation, code-generated animation, and other capabilities, with some benchmarks hitting new state-of-the-art marks. An official OpenAI blog post on hardware engineering also hinted at a mysterious internal model; even its lowest-tier score far outstrips the full-power ceiling of GPT-6 Astra, with a peak score of 87.5%, making it well suited to hardcore engineering tasks. The candidate version of the new model has now completed internal training and testing, and its launch is in the final countdown.
