Apple CEO John Ternus recently gave an interview in response to questions about Apple lagging behind in its AI efforts. Apple had previously delayed the release of a more powerful version of Siri, which will now launch only this summer. Ternus officially took over as CEO in early September. He said that outsiders have their own views, but he is satisfied with the current progress. He emphasized that Apple will use AI in new products but will not pursue AI for AI's sake: if done well, users won't care whether a feature is powered by AI or by traditional software—the key is to create products users truly love. When asked whether AI might disrupt Apple's ecosystem and make apps unnecessary, Ternus said that while it might make life more convenient, product development is deeply human-centered and personal, and it is also the work Apple loves.
