Blackstone Group informed investors on October 31 that artificial intelligence startup Anthropic may not obtain an investment-grade credit rating immediately after going public, with its rating expected to fall in the "BB" range—a downgrade from previous expectations of securing investment-grade status before year-end. Anthropic is currently advancing a $63 billion chip financing transaction, $18 billion of which consists of subordinated debt backed by its lease payments. Should the company fail to obtain an investment-grade rating, its future financing channels may be constrained and borrowing costs could rise accordingly.
