Liu Xing, the head of Doubao’s Public Relations department, issued a statement debunking a recent rumor alleging that Hengdian had partnered with ByteDance to use the portraits and voices of 150,000 extras for training ByteDance’s large-scale AI model. Liu emphasized that these claims are entirely unfounded. He clarified that the Hengdian Film and Television AI Service Platform project is designed to establish public digital infrastructure, converting real-world scenes from film and television bases into high-quality datasets. These datasets aim to enhance the efficiency of scene selection, preparation, and filming for production teams while reducing the entry barriers for small and medium-sized film and television enterprises to adopt AI technology. Technical support for this project is provided by Volcano Engine. Liu stressed that all data assets are owned by Hengdian or authorized parties. Furthermore, the use of individuals’ portraits and voices requires explicit consent and will not be employed to train ByteDance’s AI model.
