U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Besent remarked that he and his team are keeping a close watch on the financing dynamics supporting AI infrastructure development, while also alleviating recent concerns. During a media interview on Wednesday, Besent emphasized their commitment to monitoring all pertinent developments. When questioned about the surge in yields for certain AI-related debt, which have reached double-digit figures, Besent expressed a lack of concern, noting that new cloud service providers constitute only a minor segment of the broader ecosystem. When probed about whether any future interest rate hikes by the Federal Reserve would be perceived as a policy misstep, Besent suggested that this might not necessarily be true. Pointing to the robust economic growth, he reiterated his call for policymakers to maintain an open mindset and consider that the impact of energy shocks on U.S. inflation could be merely transitory.
