The open-source, two-legged Microduck robot, crafted by France's Pollen Robotics, has captured the world's imagination after a showcase by NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang at the 2026 GTC Conference. Priced at a mere $399, this robotic duck not only mimics the look and walk of a real duck but also boasts the ability to stand up on its own. Standing at about 25 centimeters tall and weighing around 800 grams, it packs a punch with its Rockchip RK3566 processor, 15 motors, a camera, LiDAR, and two inertial measurement units. Programmable in both Python and JavaScript, it can refine its movement strategies through reinforcement learning. Plus, it comes with seven pre-programmed behaviors out of the box, such as walking and roller-skating. The robot's key servos are provided by South Korean firm Robotis, which has also seen a spike in market interest as a result.
