In an interview hosted by Nicholas Thompson, CEO of The Atlantic, with Nate Soares, head of the Machine Intelligence Research Institute (MIRI), Soares stated that he believes there is over a 50% probability that advanced artificial intelligence will lead to human extinction within the next decade. He also revealed that he has stopped saving for retirement, and although he retains the 401(k) retirement account opened during his time at Google, he has not made contributions to it for ten years.
