The Shanghai Municipal Commission of Economy and Informatization has officially rolled out the 'Action Plan to Expedite the Development of Next-Generation Intelligent Manufacturing in Shanghai.' This strategic initiative is designed to realize the universal adoption of smart factories across key manufacturing sectors by 2028, while also fostering the widespread integration of Artificial Intelligence (AI) within these facilities. The plan outlines an ambitious goal to nurture 500 cutting-edge smart factories, with the manufacturing industry witnessing a proliferation of AI application scenarios, surpassing 2,000 in number.

In tandem with this, the plan envisions the creation of 10 large-scale vertical domain models, the launch of over 300 sophisticated intelligent agents, and the establishment of novel infrastructure tailored to the demands of next-generation intelligent manufacturing. Furthermore, it anticipates a significant uptick in the density of industrial robots, reaching 600 units per 10,000 individuals, alongside the introduction of 8,000 humanoid robots into factory settings.

The plan also delineates specific targets for industry growth, aiming for the new AI-driven intelligent manufacturing equipment sector to exceed RMB 200 billion in scale, and the intelligent manufacturing system integration industry to attain a value of RMB 100 billion. Collectively, these efforts are geared towards achieving the '54321' milestones, marking a transformative leap in Shanghai's manufacturing landscape.
