On October 26, Anthropic, an AI firm renowned for developing the Claude series of large-scale models and programming tools, formally filed its S-1 registration statement with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, marking the commencement of its initial public offering (IPO) journey. The company intends to go public on the Nasdaq Global Select Market, trading under the ticker symbol ANT. Established in 2021 by former key members of OpenAI, such as Dario Amodei and Daniela Amodei, Anthropic is dedicated to the Claude series of large-scale models, enterprise API services, and the Claude Code programming tool. It offers generative AI solutions to B-end clients in finance, technology, government, and corporate sectors. Among its key clients are Amazon, Google, JPMorgan Chase, and Salesforce. According to the prospectus, Anthropic's revenue has witnessed a remarkable upswing, soaring from $41 million in 2023 to $386 million in 2024, then reaching $4.585 billion in 2025, and further surging to $16.286 billion in the first half of 2026, surpassing the total for 2025 by a factor of 3.5. Nevertheless, due to investments in computing power, the company has been sustaining substantial losses, with a net loss of $80.748 billion in the first half of 2026. Out of this, $72.388 billion constituted non-cash accounting losses stemming from changes in the fair value of financial instruments like convertible notes. The proceeds from this IPO will be primarily allocated to advanced large-scale model research and development, the construction of computing power infrastructure, AI safety research, product updates, global market expansion, and replenishing working capital.
