A study involving Stockholm University in Sweden revealed that in a 9-week online cognitive-behavioral therapy program for 263 adults with social anxiety, AI feedback reviewed by psychologists showed effects similar to those of human therapists in alleviating symptoms. Assessments using the Social Phobia Scale indicated no significant difference in therapeutic outcomes between the two, and most participants were unable to distinguish the source of the feedback. AI-assisted feedback holds promise for expanding treatment accessibility, but the study emphasizes that it cannot yet replace psychologists. The findings have been published in the journal Internet Interventions.
