Amazon has launched an open-source tool, TorchNeuron, which allows developers to run their existing PyTorch code natively on its proprietary Trainium chips with just a single configuration change, eliminating the need to rewrite the code. This tool will be officially open-sourced at the PyTorch Conference in North America. Tests show that the same AI training scripts deliver identical performance on traditional chips and Trainium chips, and existing development tools can be directly used on Trainium. TorchNeuron offers the industry more chip options, helping to drive chip manufacturers to enhance product competitiveness, reduce costs for developers, and improve efficiency. Additionally, Amazon is participating in upstream PyTorch development to promote hardware-agnostic framework implementation.
